About One Rescue

Giving every lost animal
the safest path home.

One Rescue is an Australian animal rescue charity dedicated to helping lost, frightened and vulnerable animals return to safety.

We specialise in difficult lost-pet cases where an animal may be scared, avoiding people or moving across a wide area. Each situation is carefully assessed so a calm, practical recovery plan can be developed around the animal's behaviour, recent sightings and local surroundings.

Our work may involve humane traps, remote cameras, feeding stations, movement monitoring and patient conditioning. We never believe frightened animals should be chased or placed under unnecessary pressure. Their safety and welfare guide every decision we make.

Families reunited

Since One Rescue began, lost pets have been safely recovered and reunited with the people who love them.

Specialist capability

We continue to invest in purpose-built traps, remote monitoring and practical resources for difficult rescues.

Community impact

We share responsible lost-pet guidance and connect animals with suitable veterinary, welfare and care pathways.

Registered and DGR-endorsed charityDonations of $2 or more are fully tax deductible.

Our rescue equipment

Humane traps are
central to our work.

When a lost animal is in survival or flight mode, chasing can push them further away. Our traps allow us to work patiently, build confidence and secure them with the least possible stress.

The Missy Trap

Our purpose-built dog trap uses an invisible beam trigger, allowing the door to close only after the target animal has moved safely inside.

The right setup

Every trap is selected and positioned for the animal, environment and movement pattern—never as a one-size-fits-all response.

Conditioning takes time.

We monitor remotely, refresh food and allow each animal to approach at their own pace. The trap is ready when they are.

What we do

Thoughtful rescue.
Real-world experience.

Rescue isn't a rush to catch. It takes patience, planning and the right equipment to give each animal the safest path home.

Lost pet search

A successful recovery begins with reliable information. We collect and assess sightings, map the animal’s movements and look for repeat patterns around food, water, shelter and quieter travel routes.

Our team considers the animal’s behaviour, the surrounding environment, traffic, weather and risks from public interference before building a practical recovery plan. We help the community understand what to report—and why chasing, calling, whistling or approaching an animal in flight mode can push them further away.

  • Sighting collection and verification
  • Movement and behaviour pattern mapping
  • Clear flight-mode guidance for the public

Humane trapping

Humane trapping is patient, controlled work—not a race to catch. We select the right trap for the animal and location, then create a familiar, low-pressure setup that the animal can approach safely in their own time.

Remote cameras allow us to monitor behaviour without crowding the area. Food is refreshed, entry progress is observed and the trigger is used only when the animal is confidently entering far enough to be secured without injury. Conditioning may take hours, days or longer, and we never force an animal before they are ready.

  • Careful conditioning with welfare first

Rescue & welfare

Securing an animal is only one part of the rescue. Once safely contained, their immediate welfare is assessed calmly and the next steps are based on their condition, identification and individual needs.

Where possible, lost pets are reunited with their legal family. Animals needing treatment, temporary care or a new beginning are connected with appropriate veterinary and welfare support. Throughout the process we focus on reducing stress, handling safely and giving every animal the best possible outcome.

  • Safe handling and immediate welfare checks
  • Family reunification and microchip support
  • Veterinary, foster and rehoming pathways
